I believe that a deep understanding of anatomical systems is the foundation of medical knowledge. At UCL I teach cadaver-based, clinically oriented human anatomy for the MBBS program. At the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic medicine, I taught cadaver-based anatomy, neuroanatomy, and histology.
Through my work in paleontology I have seen that natural science can be a gateway drug to lifelong fascination, curiosity, and respect for science. For this reason, I am passionate and enthusiastic about STEM education at the K-12 level. I have partnered with elementary schools to coordinate outreach programs, teaching kindergartners about concepts like homology and convergence. My research has been featured on the popular YouTube video series, Brain Scoop, which seeks to tell exciting stories about research at the Field Museum.
